Dr. Beckner specializes in surgery of the spine.
Hist first experience with Jewett Orthopaedic Clinic occurred when he sprained his ankle in high school. He said his doctor spent time talking to him about orthopaedics and as someone already interested in mechanics, he quickly realized it was a field he wanted to pursue.
Dr. Beckner explains how gratifying it is to take someone living with a lot of pain and very quickly change their lifestyle. But he says surgeries are only make up a small percentage of his cases.
Most people with back and spine problems will never need surgery, they just need education. Dr. Beckner says he works with his patients to show them that back pain is no more serious and sometimes just as common as headaches. Through education, patients can learn to manage or even eliminate that pain.
Also, find out what it's like to work at place named for one of the most famous othropaedic experts in the world and how Dr. Beckner and his colleagues work to maintain and even improve that reputation.
